Oregon State Park has 21 campgrounds with yurts and cabins that are dog-friendly. Many of the campgrounds are along the beautiful, scenic coast.
Here is the list to make your reservations.
In addition, Cannon Beach is a very dog-friendly town. Surfsand Resort, the Ocean Lodge, and the Inn at Cannon Beach celebrate your pet's arrival with a welcome basket. Warm pet washes with towels are available throughout the properties for those sandy dogs.
Yes, I believe you can say that Oregon has gone to the dogs!

Beach Time For Doggies
Here in the Pacific Northwest we were recently treated to two full days of SUNSHINE. I happened to select those two very days to visit the beach and Seabrook.
Synchronicity!
AND PERFECT, I might add.
Imagine days and days of rain, a decision to go to the beach, and presto! Sunshine and blue skies. Washingtonians would say, "It's a miracle!" Especially since the weather is back to rain once again.
Here is what a Washington beach looks like on a rare sunny day:

This is the beach at Seabrook, a lovely little beach town near Pacific Beach, Washington.
Wind swept trees looking North.....

Frost and Ebony
Ebony and her good buddy Frost, along with Frost's daughter, Bailey, ran the beaches to exhaustion. Frost and Bailey are Wirehaired Pointing Griffons and are trained to hunt birds.
"They are on vacation," said Shelley, their master. Frost and Bailey taught Ebony the fine art of chasing shore birds.

Dog Meets "Big" Duck
Another glorious, but cold day in Olympia, Washington.
After a picnic lunch soaking up the sunshine and some vitamin D, my friend, Maxine, and I along with my trusty dog, Ebony, decided to walk the beach from Burfoot Park.
I actually put on sunscreen! It is January!
The Olympics were stunning.

Ebony sat while we watched the Blue Heron feed.

But she could not understand what that duck was out in the water and stayed on point until it got closer.

On closer examination.....it spoke.

This is Kitty who made her beautiful kayak and was enjoying our incredible January winter day.

Dogs Running With Objects
My dog Ebony loves to play with large sticks since she was a puppy. Then, the sticks were bigger than she was. Long, big sticks remain a favorite play toy for her.
As a Mother, I am always nervous about kids running with objects. I recall the "Don't run with scissors" from my childhood. Suckers sticking out of children's mouth are the worst. Children move from one interesting thing to another so quickly they forget about the sucker they are enjoying.
Which brings me to Ebony's antics. At times she grabs the end of her big stick and starts running extremely fast. It is rather humorous, but I worry that she will bump the stick into something and, ouch!
Here she is at Tolmie State Park racing around the beach having a GREAT time with a large stick in her mouth.
SCARY! Thankfully no emergency run to the Vet.

Beach Doggies
Another FABULOUS day in Olympia Washington! My friend and I and our dogs explored a hidden beach along Budd Inlet.
To our delight our first wildlife sighting was a bald eagle. In the water, we found a variety of sea life. It was so warm that we waded in the water and the dogs took several swims to cool off.
Frost insists on her own beach towel

Ebony creates a wake

Good time was had by ALL!

City Dog and Country Dog
Today Ebony and I took a walk along the beach of Budd Inlet in Olympia, Washington. Brian and Jayme along with their dogs, Brinkley and Ginger, joined us.
We saw an array of wildlife! Jayme screamed when she was squirted by the oysters hiding in the mud. We found starfish, live sand dollars, large snails, and saw blue herons.

But their city dogs were not use to the rough surface of the shells along the beach. It must be similar to getting one's feet toughened going barefoot in early summer. Both Brinkley's and Ginger's pads had to be doctored when we got home. Ebony came away without any cuts to her pads. Guess the country dog is more conditioned to uneven surfaces whereas the city dogs are use to grass and sidewalks.
